Aluminium Fishing Boats

Blog | 28 January 2014

Small lightweight and durable boats made of aluminium are most often used for freshwater fishing. Generally a very simple craft, featuring riveted or welded aluminum hulls and bench seating, they can be operated in fish-friendly places – shallow water, coves, inlets – not many other boats can reach. The flat hull also makes the boat more stable in calm water, which is good not only for anglers, but hunters

Flat bottom aluminium boats typically have a transom onto which an outboard motor can be mounted. They are simple and easy to maintain, and inexpensive with many options to upgrade.

In Britain they came to popular notice during the Planned French Invasion of Britain in 1759, when a large-number of flat-bottomed boats were prepared by the French to ferry their invasion force across the channel. An estimated 30 million livres was spent on the construction of the boats.

Aluminium boats can be transported on a trailer or on top of a vehicle or in a bed of a ute. This makes it very convenient to take on different types of fishing or hunting trips.
